Here are some Canadian business associations and government sites that you may find useful.

  • CanadaOne claims to be Canada's small business hub. On its site it has a monthly magazine, Canadian business directory, resources and a suite of free business tools.

  • Canada Business Service Centres (CBSCs) are a source of government information for businesses. The CBSCs provide a wide range of Canadian information on government services, programs and regulations. They can provide information and assistance about starting a new business or improving existing ones. 

  • NRC Regional Innovation Centre is designed to assist technology spin-off and start-up companies. The site contains information on all areas necessary to establish your own technology business.

  • Canadian Federation of Independent Business represents more than 100,000 member businesses across Canada. CFIB is a lobby for the interests of small and medium-sized business at local, provincial and federal levels of government. CFIB takes guidance from its membership through regular surveys. Members receive regular newsletters and publication, and have access to free consultations on dealing with government departments.

  • Canadian Marketing Association is Canada's largest marketing association, with 800 corporate members in a variety of industries. CMA has developed self-regulatory policies on standards of business practice, ethics, privacy and marketing to children. The CMA offers a variety of educational programs, including professional marketing certificate programs, conferences and seminars and a national convention and trade show.

  • Canadian Chamber of Commerce represents 170,000 members across the country in every industry. CCC researches and develops strategies on a best-practice basis for business.

  • Industry Canada has numerous resources devoted to small business, including a quarterly small business newsletter, business start-up assistance and electronic filing links, management tools and SMB-specific research.
